CHILDWORLD THEATRE

Childworld Theatre is basically an artistic and creative advocacy strategy designed to educate, entertain, inform, and enlighten audience and positively influence desired change and motivate necessary actions in the world. As an advocacy strategy, Childworld Theatre Unit features live performers who typically present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place.

Our performers communicate experience to the audience through combinations of gesture, speech, song, music or dance. Elements of design and stagecraft are used to enhance the physicality, presence and immediacy of the experience. Childworld Theatre Unit’s activities align with CEDFA vision reflecting the mission of educational theatre to include:

Besigning and constructing scenery, props, lighting, and makeup learn to interpret the ideas of others and to apply their interpretations to new works;

Exploring and communicating how a dramatic presentation relates to a particular time, place and culture;

Helping children, adolescents and adults to develop concepts about themselves, human relationships, and the environment by participating in role-playing;
• providing all learners opportunities to develop to their highest potential despite differences in learning rates and prior knowledge and skills;
• assisting theatre students to develop capabilities in the areas of: critical and creative thinking; problem solving; communication; individual and collaborative planning and implementation; historical and cultural understanding; self-awareness and social-awareness; and, research skills.
